A fan ran onto the field to make a smash tackle on live TV.
Killum Green, 21, slipped past Solihull Moores forward Adam Rooney, 33, during their match in Altrincham.
Killum, a Man City fan, said he was fired from his hard job that morning for being late for work and did so to cheer himself up.
“While I was in the stands, I thought this was cool,” said Kaylum, who was dancing two glasses of beer.
He wanted to take a penalty in the National League game on Tuesday, which is shown live on BT Sport.
But, with Altrincham losing, Rooney ran into the corner in the 89th minute to waste time.
Then Kilom took off and led to a worthy intervention by Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.
He raised his arms and slid across the pitch to celebrate, before being escorted outside.
Rooney tweeted after his 2-1 win: “The player should have got a man of the match for this tackle! I can’t get in with two feet these days though!”
After the clip went viral, Kaylum sent his boss a text message to thank him for firing him. He added, “I told him he made me famous. He would be mad about it.”
Police said yesterday they are investigating.
