The head of a California school board insulted a parent who expressed concerns about mask and vaccine mandates during a meeting on Tuesday.
Lauren Ropoli, along with other parents at Los Alamitos Unified School, addressed the board with her thoughts on mask mandates and vaccines.
She told the board that she opposes the California mask mandate for students and would oppose the vaccine mandate, and asked the board not to support them.
Finally, CEO Marlis Davidson tells Ropoli that her time is up, According to the public video of the meeting, and call the next parent. Ropoli finished, Davidson murmured “f—you” under her breath, and her microphone picked it up.
Those present at the meeting, who had been applauding Ropoli moments earlier, fell into stunned silence with the board members.
Neither Davidson nor the Los Alamitos Unified School District Board of Education responded to requests for comment from NBC News.
But KTLA reported that Davidson has apologized and said in a statement that “when members of the public address the Board of Education, they should be listened respectfully.”
“I reaffirm my commitment to serving our community with dignity and integrity, and I hope they will accept my sincere apologies,” Davidson said in the statement.
