It was reported that Tottenham took a hit in their pursuit of Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez as the striker is set to sign a new deal without a release clause.
The Argentine was likely to transfer interest in the summer with both North London clubs looking to sign him.
Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are believed to have made official offers for the striker, but both proposals were soon rejected.
Lionel Messi – Barcelona to a lesser extent – was also interested in signing Martinez, but no official move was made.
And now the £60m man has decided his future lies with Inter, who helped him win Serie A last season.
According to the famous Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the new deal for the 24-year-old will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.
And the £94m release clause has been scrapped, cementing Inter’s position in any potential future transfer negotiations.
Romano said on TwitterLautaro Martinez has just confirmed his new contract with Inter.

New contract until June 2026. Release clause [€111m] It has been removed.”
The club’s chief executive for sport, Giuseppe Marotta, will be true to his word if Inter announce the extension, albeit more than ten days late.
Morata said La Gazzetta dello Sport Earlier this month: “We will announce his extension in ten days, it’s the future of Inter and we want to keep him at the club.”
