The sensational takeover of Wrexham Club by two Hollywood heavyweights is set to be a streaming smash.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McClinney completed their Nations League club takeover in February 2021 and were spotted in their first game in October.
And now the rags-to-riches story is set to be told in a new documentary titled ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.
When is Welcome to Wrexham released?
The new documentary will chronicle the club’s A-lists purchase – and their ambitions to move Wrexham up the league ladder.
Their interest in the club was confirmed in November 2020, with the duo confirming their stake in the club four months later.
“It’s a special day for the two of us to become the newest hosts in Wrexham’s long and earned history,” they revealed in a statement.
“Together with the players, the staff, the fans and the local community, we can now follow through on our goal of growing the team back into the Premier League in front of increased attendance, and on an improved stadium, while making a positive difference to the wider community in Wrexham.
“Wrexham AFC is in a position to thrive only thanks to the incredible efforts of the Wrexham Supporters Fund.
“Their members are a fitting reflection of the integrity and spirit of the city and will always have an important role in the club.”
The cameras came with them as Welcome to Wrexham has been produced ever since.
As of now, the release date is uncertain but it is likely to be in the second half of 2022.
Reynolds and McElhenney caused a stir in Maidenhead when they came to watch the Wrexham game in a National League game on October 26.
Almost every spectator turned his attention to the pair with the camera flash illuminating the grounds of York Road with a capacity of 4000 capacity.
And they may have wished they had waited for another game as the Red Dragons lost 3-2 and Bryce Hosanna was also sent off for the guests.
How can I view it?
Here in the UK, the documentary will be shown on Disney Plus.
The streaming service is only available on your mobile phone, tablet, PC, game console and TV through the official app.
