Barcelona appointed Serge Barguan as interim coach after sacking Ronald Koeman – but the club still wants Xavi.
Koeman was sacked on Wednesday evening after the horrific defeat to Rayo Vallecano that left them ninth in the League.

Nou Camp Xavi legend is set to take over permanently once Barcelona seals a deal with Al Sadd.
But for now, team boss B Barjuan will take over on a temporary basis.
A club statement on Thursday read: “Barcelona hereby announces that Sergi Barguan, the current coach of FC Barcelona B, will temporarily take over the technical management of the first team.
“His temporary position as the team’s first coach will end once the club appoints a full-time coach to replace sacked Ronald Koeman.”
Barguan spent 14 years at Barcelona, working his way through the youth ranks, the C and B teams before breaking the first team in 1993.
He played 382 games for the club before ending his career at Atlético Madrid.

Barguan managed Barcelona’s youth teams between 2009 and 2011, before taking charge of the first teams from Recreativo, Almeria and Mallorca.
The former Spain national team star of 56 caps then coached China’s Zhejiang Greentown between 2017 and 2019, before returning to Barcelona to manage the second team.
It is believed that Xavi is about to sign for Barcelona in the coming days.
The club legend is the hot favorite for the job – the same man recently admitted he is finally ready to make a comeback after turning down the job before Koeman was appointed.

Barcelona are now working to terminate his contract with Al Sadd, which will cost them around £840,000.
