
When you type a search query into the Mozilla Firefox address bar, you’ll see various search suggestions appear below your query. If you don’t find these suggestions helpful, you can turn them off. We’ll show you how.
Firefox gives you options
In Firefox, you can disable search suggestions in the address bar for Which search engine are you using? This includes Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and any other search engines you may have added.

Turn off search suggestions in Firefox on desktop
To disable unwanted search suggestions in Firefox on your Windows PC, Mac, Linux or Chromebook, first, open Firefox on your PC.
In the upper-right corner of Firefox, click the three horizontal lines.
From the menu that opens after clicking on the three horizontal lines, select “Settings”.
On the Settings page, from the sidebar on the left, select Search.
In the right pane, scroll down to the Search Suggestions section. In this section, disable the “Show search suggestions in address bar results” option.
advice: To disable other address bar suggestions, such as browsing history suggestions, click the “Change settings for other address bar suggestions” option and configure the options there.
To disable search suggestions in private windows for Firefox, turn off the “Show search suggestions in private Windows” option as well. If this option is already turned off, you do not have to do anything.
Firefox will save your changes automatically.

Turn off search suggestions in Firefox on Android
To disable search suggestions in the Android app in Firefox, open the Firefox app on your phone.
In the upper-right corner of Firefox, click the three dots.
From the three-dot menu, select “Settings”.
On the Settings page, select Search.
Scroll through the “Search” page that opens along the way. At the bottom, disable the “Show search suggestions” option.

Turn off search suggestions in Firefox on iPhone and iPad
You can get rid of Firefox’s search suggestions on iPhone and iPad as well.
To do this, first, launch Firefox on your phone. In the bottom right corner of the Firefox browser, tap on the three horizontal lines.
From the menu that pops up after clicking on the three horizontal lines, select “Settings.”
On the Settings page, click Search.
In the Search menu, turn off the Show search suggestions option.
