How to set up Family Bell on Google Nest or Google Home Speaker

If you’re a parent tired of reminding kids to do their homework or brush their teeth, Google’s Family Bell feature is just what you need.

In this guide, we’ll go through how to set up Family Bell on your Google Home or Google Nest device, so you’ll never be late for schedule again.

What is a family bell and how does it work?

Family Bell is a recurring and customizable reminder that you can set to all connected Google speakers at a specific time. It’s meant to keep you and your family on schedule, but it’s also very useful when you want to signal dinner time or remind your kids to start school.

However, unlike a regular reminder that just tells you that you have a notification, Family Bell will announce what the message is. When it rings, you will hear a ring, followed by a personalized message, and then another ring.

In addition, Family Bells can be played on target Google devices. This is especially useful if your message is only aimed at a specific family member.

To make things easier for you, Family Bells comes with preset templates that you can easily use. But you are free to create whatever you want for whatever purpose you want.

If your kids have different activities planned for the evening, you can set different family bells to alert them. You can also use it to remind you of daily tasks like taking medication, feeding the dog, or attending a Zoom meeting.
