Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised Edinson Cavani and Scott McTominay after their 3-0 win over Tottenham.
The Red Devils outperformed Tottenham in north London as they returned to winning ways after four Premier League games without a win.
The result lifted United above Tottenham and finished fifth in the table, with Solskjaer still alive to fight another day after the 5-0 defeat by Liverpool last week.
Norway defender Solskjaer has moved to the back line five times on the trip to the capital, while also bringing Cavani back into the starting line-up to partner with Cristiano Ronaldo after impressing him in training.
The 34-year-old Uruguay international responded to his coach’s faith by scoring his first goal of the season with a light kick over Hugo Lloris.
Solskjaer told Sky Sports: “I’ve been told it’s the oldest team I’ve picked for Manchester United and it’s time for that.
I’ve had three years or less here as a manager, and Edinson Cavani’s training performance on Tuesday is probably the best anyone has done here.
The old men drove from the front [Cavani and Ronaldo] They played well together and have a lot of respect for each other.

“We have a lot of talented players to learn from these two and they have to learn as quickly as possible.
“The rate of work they did and the quality were second to none. They play for the club, no matter what.
“It’s not about me, it’s about our improvement together and if someone doesn’t give what they have for Man United they won’t play, it’s that simple.”
Solskjaer was also alone in his praise of midfielder McTominay, who was criticized by fans and critics in the campaign.
Commenting on what United benefited from the switch in the squad, Solskjaer said: “Roughness, we have experience with Cristiano and Edinson.
“We got more control and maybe got the best performance of the game from Scott McTominay.
“I thought it was cool there and, to me, unplayable.”
With the pressure easing a bit on Solskjaer, he only continued to climb on Nuno Espirito Santo as Spurs lost five of their 10 league games.
The former Porto goalkeeper admitted that his team was “not on the right track”.
