Signed in the summer, Ramsdale was man of the match, managing four world tackles to deny the Foxes.

The first came against Kelechi Iheanacho, turning the Nigerian’s powerful strike around the post.

The second came just before the break, with a James Madison free kick turning over the underside of the crossbar.

In the second half, Arsenal had their backs facing the wall and Ramsdale prevented Ademola Lookman and Harvey Barnes.

But with an eye-catching performance it came from a Foxes fan.

Ramsdale was met with chants of “You’ll never play England” and when he went on to take goal kicks, “You **t aaaaaahhhhhh”.

The 23-year-old saw the funny side of him and finished cheering with the crowd as he tossed the ball into the court, even hitting the air as he did.

Fans are now calling for Bramsdale to become England’s #1, after taking off the shirt from Everton’s Jordan Pickford. His performance so far this season also makes it hard to argue against him.

One said on Twitter: “In the early days but Arsenal seem to have found their first ever reliable goalkeeper since Lehmann.

“Huge gamble paying £30m for Ramsdale, but it seems to be paying off. Back in England pictures now too.”

Another said: “Who knew Aaron Ramsdale was a top-tier goalkeeper? Well every Sheffield United fan and #afcb fan, for starters!

“I’m glad he showed exactly what he’s capable of – and he will only get better. Arsenal – and maybe England – number one.”

Arsenal and England legend David Seaman took to Twitter to pay tribute to the goalkeeper.
