A New York City man was killed in a knife attack on the Queens subway platform

A man was injured in a knife attack on a subway platform in Queens on Saturday night, police said.

Just after 7:30 p.m., police responded to a report of an encounter on the platform of the northbound E train at 74th Street Station in Jackson Heights, according to the New York Police Department.

Police said there may have been one or two men who attacked the victim with a knife, wounding him in the leg and tearing his eye.

According to one report, the second man tried to intervene and may have been in possession of a pistol, the police said.

The victim was taken by responders to Elmhurst Hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.

Police said the attacker or assailants appeared to have fled on foot.

Police said no arrests have been made and an investigation is underway
