Zaha was among the top scorers as Palace scored an unexpected victory over heavyweight hosts Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

He was also fouled by Aymeric Laporte in stoppage time in the first half due to the City defender’s red card.

In the aftermath, the 28-year-old received a barrage of abuse dubbed ‘N’.*****, “monkey” and “chimpanzee”.

Zaha wrote on his Instagram account: “This message is not for me to receive a million messages saying we stand with you and it is disgusting or to sympathize with me.

“I’m not here because of all the nonsense that is being done instead of fixing the actual problem!

“I don’t mind offending because nowadays it comes with doing the job I do although it’s not an excuse but my color will always be the real problems.

“But it’s okay because I’ll always be black and proud!

Talk to me when you take this issue seriously.

The despicable messages are just the latest in the wave of racist abuse Zaha has been subjected to on Instagram.

A 12-year-old boy was arrested for insulting Ivory Coast in July last year.

Back in 2018, Zaha revealed that he was abused after Palace’s sharp 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
