The tragedy of Macbeth to receive a free IMAX exam for one night only

It’s a story that’s been done many times already: Think again Akira Kurosawa‘s he ran, and already recently, Justin Kurzel‘s Macbeth. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t run to take advantage of this offer from A24 and Apple Original Films. For one day only, on December 5th, you can see Joel QuinnThe massive adaptation of the Bard tragedy, aptly titled The tragedy of Macbeth, free – and if you’re in North America, a Q&A with Quinn and one of the movie’s co-stars will follow, Frances McDormand (Lady Macbeth).


The film will be shown in a number of theaters in the United States and worldwide, from Paris to London to Argentina, although international screenings will not benefit from a post-show Q&A. It’s a first come, first send service, so make sure you’re in a good place and early if you don’t want to be disappointed. Critics hailed the film as a victory for empire Describing it as “blatant but completely convincing, this is really chilling Macbeth It is a visually stunning tour. It’s as good as you’d expect from this cast and crew that says something.” It definitely is.

McDormand, of course, is not entirely new to Shakespeare. As explained in an episode of the program Dickens team Podcast, I first encountered Bard, like most of us, in an English class. Here was the dramatic read-out of Lady Macbeth’s sleepwalking scene as she swept off her feet and fell in love with the craft of acting. “I was a very shy kid, a bit cranky, and it was the first time I ever felt so powerful to be on stage,” adding, “It was the hook that got into my crawl and I haven’t taken it out since.”
