How to delete a Snapchat message

Want to recover a message you just sent to someone on Snapchat? If so, it is easy to delete this message. You can do this on both iPhone and Android, and we’ll show you how to do it.

When can you delete a Snapchat message?

You can only delete a Snapchat message if it is not yet displayed. Until then, Snapchat Says Here’s about deleting sent messages:

When you delete a message, we will try to remove it from our servers and your friends’ devices. This may not always work, like if someone has a bad internet connection, or if you and your friends are running an old version of Snapchat.

So once someone sees the message, you can’t delete it anymore. You also cannot delete messages that the other person has saved.

Additionally, when you delete a message, Snapchat adds a note to the chat saying the message has been removed. It does not reveal the actual message, but the recipient knows that a message has been deleted from the chat.

Delete a message in Snapchat on iPhone and Android

To start deleting a message, open the Snapchat app on your phone.

At the bottom of the app, tap on the “Chat” option (the bubble icon).

Click on "conversation" option in Snapchat.

On the Chat page, find the chat in which you want to delete a message. Then tap on that chat.

Select a chat.

On the chat conversation page, find the message you want to delete. Then tap and hold on this message.

Select the message to be deleted.

From the menu that opens, select “Delete”.

And you’re done. Your specific message has now been removed from your chat conversation. Enjoy!

If you use WhatsApp, Instagram or Telegram, you can delete messages from these apps as well.
