A person was killed in a shooting at night in New York City

Police said a 25-year-old man was shot dead Thursday night in East Harlem.

The fatal shooting broke out shortly before 11 p.m. Friday in front of 2251 First Avenue, near East 117th Street in East Harlem, police said.

Police said victim Shaquille Gaine was found with a bullet in the chest by police in response to a 911 call.

EMS transported the mortally wounded man to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests were made and the police, who had no motive for the shooting, said the investigation was continuing.
