Over time, you are likely to encounter one or the other problem with your smartphone battery. Since batteries are consumable, they degrade in performance over time. After a few years, they won’t have as much charge as they did when they were new.
Knowing this, you probably want to keep your phone battery as healthy as possible. We’ll show you how to check and monitor battery health on Android to keep your device running smoothly for as long as possible.
Can you check battery health on Android natively?
Unfortunately, Android does not provide a built-in method to check battery health on all devices. In case you weren’t aware, Android does provide some basic battery information in its settings menu, though.
To have a look, visit Settings > Battery and click on the three dots List in the top right. From the menu that appears, tap Battery usage. This navigation may vary slightly depending on your Android phone and version.
On the resulting screen, you will see a list of apps that have used up the most battery power on your device since its last full charge. This instead appears at the bottom of the list in Android 12.
Although this does not allow you to manage Android battery health, you can at least identify which apps are consuming a lot of battery and limit their usage. In turn, this will keep your battery high capacity for much longer.

How to check battery health on Samsung devices
If you have a Samsung phone, you can use the built-in menu to check the battery health on your device. To do this, install Samsung Members app From Google Play or Galaxy Store if you don’t already have one. Then open the app and tap Get help At the bottom, choose Go to Phone Care. Finally, choose Interactive checks followed by battery.

Android has a few hidden codes that you can enter into the mobile app to access the test menus. One of them displays a variety of information about your device, including the status of the battery. To see it, open the dialer and type *#*#4636#*#*.
Unfortunately, in our testing on the Pixel 4 running Android 12, this list didn’t include any battery data. However, you may get better results on your device. Some phones will have a file Battery information The menu that appears good or any other health classification.
This is all the battery data that Android provides on its own. But remember that you can notice many signs of a drained battery yourself. If your phone runs out quickly while you’re not using it or if it doesn’t last all day, it’s possible that the battery is worn out.
To perform a proper battery check on Android outside of Samsung’s solution, you will need to resort to third-party solutions.

How to check battery health on Android with AccuBattery
After the initial setup, you can browse the AccuBattery tabs, but they won’t have much information just yet. Due to the nature of the app, you need to leave it installed and use your phone as you normally do for a while before you start getting useful information.
To start, you should aim to unplug your phone when it reaches 80 percent charge. AccuBattery includes an alarm that alerts you at this charge level. If you want to modify it, visit Shipping tab and drag the blue slider to a different level.
When your phone is connected, this tab will also display information about how long it takes to charge. Over time, as it becomes more accurate, this will help you estimate how long your phone will need to sit on the charger.
Monitor apps that use battery
On the unloading Tab, you will find information regarding how your phone uses power. It shows how much battery was used when the screen was on or off, as well as during deep sleep (learn about Android’s Doze mode to understand deep sleep).
