WhatsApp will soon let you share voice notes as status updates

WhatsApp status updates, the app’s version of the Stories feature we’re seeing on other platforms like Instagram, have been largely limited to photos, videos, and text updates. However, it looks like the platform will soon allow for more flexibility when it comes to its status updates by adding support for voice notes.

Voice note status updates, or “Voice Status”, will allow users to quickly record and share a voice in their status tab, similar to how users can send voice notes to other WhatsApp users in a chat window. These audio status updates will allow users to easily share important updates with audio cues, or a set of instructions with their contacts by recording and sharing themselves.

New report from WABetaInfo It is suggested that the feature is currently under development and will come with a future update. The screenshot also shows what the implementation will look like. Check it out below.

The image shows that a dedicated audio button will pop up when new status updates are added. This button will allow you to switch to the audio status and record the audio note to share. It’s also possible that Voice status updates follow the same privacy settings as regular status updates, which means that Voice updates won’t be visible to people who don’t have access to regular status updates. Who can see these updates will depend on how you adjust your personal privacy settings.

Note that there is currently no timeline for the same and the feature will come first for beta users. WhatsApp will then bring the feature to the stable app once any bugs are settled. This could take weeks or months, so don’t hold your breath about the upcoming feature just yet.
