We are gradually approaching the release of Sonic Frontiers. Dates are leaking, reviews are coming in from abroad, and now we find out Sega will be at EGX 2022 with a playable version of Sonic Frontiers.
The official EGX Twitter account has confirmed that SEGA is coming to #EGX2022, and they want you to get your first UK hands-on Sonic Frontiers. The Egyptian Exchange will be located at the ExCeL Center in London, UK, from September 22-25. Tickets are available over here.
Sonic Frontiers has been Sega’s main title for 2022, revealing gameplay and interviews with the creators give us a good sense of what Sonic fans want. After being transported to a strange new world, Sonic must explore vast open fields, ancient ruins, and strange buildings in search of the Chaos Emeralds. All the traditional Sonic game trappings can be found in Frontiers, including bumpers, springs, and rails, but also new challenges like open-world puzzles and massive boss enemies that protect the secrets of this mysterious land.
Since this world is completely devoid of life, very few Sonic friends have appeared in Sonic Frontiers. There is mention of Tails, Amy, Big and of course, Dr. Eggman and Knuckles appear in the animated preview, but Sonic Team’s Takashi Izuka confirmed that it’s hard to write in anyone other than Sonic. Pay attention to Sonic’s lines, and you may hear some big names dropped from Sonic lore.
We may soon get a release date as well. South Korea has just given Sonic Frontiers an all-age rating, which may indicate an imminent release of the announcement. Or we can take word from SteamDB, the Steam database monitoring site, which says Sonic Frontiers will arrive on December 3, 2022. It previously said November 8, which could mean Sega is still trying to set a specific date for an announcement.
