The Notorious is set to make his acting debut in the remake of the 1989 classic action movie Road House, which was produced by Prime Video.
And proud partner Dee has taken to Instagram to tell her followers all about Conor’s exciting opportunity.
Sharing a post on Conor McGregor’s fan account, Dee, who has three children with the UFC star, said, “So cool! You’re blowing me away baby.”
The Road House will follow a remake of a former UFC fighter, played by Gyllenhaal, who takes a job as a ranger on a bumpy road in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is as it seems in a tropical paradise.
It is still unknown who will play McGregor in the project, but sources have made it clear that he will play an original character and not himself.
Hollywood has been wanting to see Dublin on the big screen for some time now, but McGregor reportedly wanted to make sure he picked the right project to make his acting debut.
Insiders say when he heard there was interest in him joining the Road House cast, he first saw the original movie and enjoyed it so much that he wanted to get in on the action.
Sources add that after meeting producer Joel Silver, McGregor was sold on the project and liked the idea the new story was headed for compared to the original.
The Amazon original is set to begin production in the Dominican Republic this month, and will be broadcast on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world upon release.
In March, Connor offered Jared Leto the chance to join him for a fight camp after the House of Gucci star said he’d love to play a Dublin fighter in a biopic.
The 50-year-old, who is a big fan of McGregor and has attended many of his fights, told Extra TV, “If we do a UFC movie, if I’m younger, I’ll play Conor McGregor. I got a beard.”
“What Connor is doing and what these guys and girls are doing is extraordinary.
“Maybe I’m too old to do Connor, but you never know. Maybe we could use some CGI.”
McGregor later tweeted: “Jared Leto, I invite you to come and practice the part with me!” Next to a link to an article on the actor’s statements.
Leto, who appeared on Fight Club in 1999, also suggested that he would be interested in playing UFC President Dana White.
The cast of the remake of Road House also includes Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gibemisola Ecomelo, Lucas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominic Columbus, Bo Knapp and Bob Minery.
Doug Liman is directing from a screenplay written by Anthony Pajarosi and Charles Mondry, while Joel Silver will produce the film for his company Silver Pictures.
