Whether you’ve read the comics, watched the ever-expanding MCU from start to finish ten times, or are a Marvel fan by any description, there are an endless number of things to argue about with other fans. The thing that tops the heap is whether or not the Civil War is an Avengers movie. If you ask the creators of Marvel’s Avengers – the game, not the movie – then apparently yes, it is.
The superhero game got two new outfits this month. One for iron man and one for hockey. However, the name Archer’s new fit is technically wrong, but it will please fans who have been arguing with Captain America: Civil War should have been classified as an Avengers movie since it was shown in cinemas over six years ago.
The new costume is called “Avengers: Marvel Studios from Hawkeye: Civil War Costume”. Those who’ve seen it will recognize the new look as Hawkeye wears it in the Civil War, so this isn’t a mix where Crystal Dynamics used the wrong Avengers movie poster, whoever was responsible simply assumed Civil War was an Avengers movie, not Captain America 3 which technically is.
Well, either that or the CD employee responsible for writing the description would be a proud advocate of thinking Civil War is an Avengers movie, and it should have been labeled as such. The movie features so many MCU heroes that fans were understandably confused and sometimes upset that they didn’t get the Avengers treatment. The movie lacked appearances from Hulk and Thor, two of the MCU’s primary Avengers, which is probably why it got the Cap brand instead.
The battle over what the movie should have been called rages on in responses to the Reddit post above. If you’d rather not get bogged down in the six-year-old’s speech, or simply don’t like new clothes, stick with the summer-themed outfits that Avengers fans have been craving since they were first revealed. There’s also a She-Hulk access to look forward to, when the accuracy of the leak has been officially confirmed.
