Raikkonen recently tested the next generation car

GTKimi Raikkonen participated in an audition session in Virginia.
Uncovering the scheme is the latest step in Raikkonen’s journey to the upper echelon of NASCAR. He also recently took part in a test to get some experience in the Cup Series car before making his debut on the track.
Raikkonen and two-time LeMans 24 Hours winner Mike Rockenfeller headed to the Virginia International Raceway on August 11. NASCAR rules provide “elite” drivers from other motorsport series the opportunity to practice prior to the debut of the Cup Series, provided they follow a group. list of rules.
Raikkonen qualified while preparing for the race at Watkins Glen International. Rockenfeller was in a similar position considering that he joined Spire Motorsports for road track racing.
Raikkonen took a few laps around the road track before taking part in stop-over training, which will be crucial for a strong run on August 21. He also spent time with teammate Daniel Suarez, who won a road course in 2022.
“As a company, we have worked hard to prepare Kimi,” said team owner Justin Marks in a press release. “He’s adapted really fast so far. I know he’s going to be fast. Our job is to help Kimi learn the rules for NASCAR to make sure that doesn’t bother us. But everyone knows how talented he is and it’s been shown on the simulator and in the audition.”
Raikkonen will work with a winning crew chief
There are several factors that will help determine whether Raikkonen achieves success in his first Cup Series tournament. The car’s speed is near the top of the list, but that shouldn’t be a concern based on the road track success of Trackhouse Racing in 2022.
Other factors will be Raikkonen’s willingness to simulate and the aggressiveness of his fellow drivers. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway showed that the Cup Series competitors were willing to send each other off the track in the first turn for the slightest advantage. Will they continue this trend at Watkins Glen International?
An equally important factor will be the person above the pit chest. Raikkonen will work with the veteran crew chief of the Darian Group, the man who led Tony Stewart to the 2011 Cup Series championship. Grob also celebrated several victories with Jimmy Johnson, Karl Edwards, Denny Hamlin and Casey Myers.
