Pierce, 69, became one of the world’s most famous actors when he played James Bond in four films between 1995 and 2002.
Pierce Brosnan kept his fame a secret from his sons who for years believed he “had a lot of friends”.
The former James Bond star managed to keep his celebrity status a secret from his sons Dylan, now 25, and Paris, now 21, when they were both growing up.
“People were coming to him on the street, and he’s like the nicest guy, so he’s been talking to everyone for a really long time,” Dylan told GQ in a father-and-sons interview.
By the time they found out why their father was so famous, they said they had also decided to keep it a secret.
“I don’t tell anyone that, under any circumstances,” Dylan says.
Dylan describes how his friends were shocked when they arrived at his 21st birthday party, to learn that the celebrity guest was really Dylan’s father.
Pierce, 69, originally from Navan, Co Myth, tried to dissuade his young sons from following in his Hollywood footsteps. Instead, they got into music and modeling.
Brosnan, best known for his portrayal of James Bond from 1995 to 2002, says he is “not sure” about the latest installment in the No Time to Die series.
“I don’t care,” he told GQ when asked about his thoughts on a new Bond following Daniel Craig’s departure from the role.
Brosnan has been married twice and has five children. My two children adopted his first wife, Cassandra Harris, before she died at the age of 43 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. They had another son, Sean together.
His adopted daughter Charlotte also died of ovarian cancer in 2013.
He married Kelly Shay Smith who has been with him for over 20 years and is the mother of Dylan and Paris.
