The driver of car number 48 announced the news on September 29. He released a statement on social media and confirmed that he would not participate in the elimination race after meeting with his doctors in Charlotte. Noah Gragson will be driving the #48 Chevrolet as his replacement.

“After undergoing a medical evaluation for concussion-like symptoms, I will not be driving the #48 Chevrolet Ally in Talladega,” Bowman wrote. “I am disappointed but I know my health is the number one priority.
