Dan Campbell on the field with the Lions in 2022.

The Detroit Lions had one of the ugliest defensive displays in recent memory in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks, and now, many are turning their attention toward Aaron Glenn.

The trapped coordinator leads a defense that takes damage from left and right in games, and as a result comes the heat for him. However, Dan Campbell is not one to throw his coaches under the bus.

Speaking after a 48-45 loss, Campbell was asked about the defense’s inability to improve and especially Glenn. As he said, he’s not pressing the panic button on Glenn, whom he considers a good coach, nor the team.

“I’m going to sit down with (Aaron Glenn). AG is a good coach and that’s the same thing I said to the team. The worst thing we can do is start pointing fingers at each other. I did this, we didn’t do this.” We can’t do that guy. We can’t let anyone break us up because as grim as we are now, we’re not as far away as we feel but until we do something about it and stop talking about it, it doesn’t matter. We can say we’ll be better but until we actually do it and commit and get better training and on them Carry that on their shoulders They need some accountability and our captain and our vets have to say enough is enough and what are they going to do about it? What do we have to do about it? I mean we are all in the same boat together and we have to clean it up but I know this, we can’t go in Panic because it’s the worst thing you can do.”

Specifically, Campbell said he has to get more hands-on with Glenn to try and figure out some issues, even as he trusts the assistants as well as Glenn himself to get the job done.

“I have a lot of faith in Aaron Glenn. I have a lot of faith in these assistants and I think it just comes down to, we just sit down and look at everything together,” Campbell said. . A real deep dive into it. Players, everything we do but I also trust what he does and there is a reason why I hired him. So I want to let him do his work but for sure, I have to look a lot deeper than I was.”

A deep dive of the man’s head is needed, and this may involve working with Glenn to find solutions. Lions clearly have a lot to do, but anyone looking for an unexpected reaction from Campbell will likely be disappointed.

Campbell: Lions’ defense lacks confidence

So what does Campbell think lions should do in defense? As he said, it’s time for the team to get back to basics and build some confidence that the team lacks.

“I know this, we lack confidence. It’s very clear to see. That’s one element of it. We lack a lot of confidence, so definitely to do that you have to have production in the games and succeed and stop your opponents, get some stops, And things like that. We lack some confidence in the areas and then there again, we still make mistakes that fall into our boat as coaches. That’s on us.”

Specifically, what does Campbell mean about trust? Never see the team has any kind of swag on one side of the ball.

“I just don’t feel our ego, you know?” Campbell said.

It is clear that lions lack everything in defense mentally and physically.

Lions Defense played a miserable role in Week 4

In terms of losing, it was epic for Lions in defense. The team allowed an ugly 48 points, and Seattle didn’t shoot once in the game. Statistically, it was one of the worst matches the Lions had played in some time.

Detroit allowed 555 yards in the game, including 320 passing yards and 235 rushing yards. They wounded up to five total landings, including two Rashad Penny on the ground. Detroit didn’t generate any sacks, gave up nine initial conversions, and wasn’t able to generate any fast food minus an early penalty kick recovery.

Showing off, confident or not, lions have to find a way out of the field more consistently. It’s up to Glenn and definitely Campbell to start finding answers for players about what they should do.

After the most depressing show in a long time, Campbell wraps himself around Glenn.
