They will participate in iRacing’s “round robin” style competition to determine the best “virtual” driver. Two will compete on the simulator while the other two will sit on the sofa to have a discussion with Dingo.

“We are excited to see how the best NASCAR drivers in the world can do in the driving simulation competition and to hear their heated opinions on the current state of the race,” said Dan McHugh of Monster Energy. “We’ve always been fascinated to see if the skills of being a professional driver can carry over into the games, so we’re putting virtual rubber on the road to see how it unfolds.”

The event takes place before a pivotal race

Riley Herbst

GTRiley Herbst needs points to stay in the playoffs.

The Monster Energy/NASCAR crossover event will take place before the weekend at home at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Two of the National Series will be running at the Roval for pivotal playoffs.

Herbst and Gibbs, in particular, have moves to make during round 12 of the cut-off race on Saturday, October 8 (3PM ET, USA Network). Neither of them secured a place in the quarter-finals, and they will have to accumulate some points.

Gibbs is currently in a better position. He’s 49 points above the cut-off line, sitting behind Noah Gragson and AJ Allender in the standings. Moving to the eighth round is almost guaranteed, but he will go on to claim his stage wins and sixth win in this year’s Xfinity Series.

For comparison, Herbst is just below the cutoff line after the first two races of the round of 12. He is 10 points behind Ryan Sieg, and will have to jump over two drivers to move on to the next round of qualifying.
