Austin Sendrick just showed off his 2020 Ford Mustang GT350.

The Daytona 500 winner has just shown a very meaningful car. Austin Cendrick put his GT350 on display and revealed that he helped develop it as a young racer.

Cindric showed off this muscle car during an appearance on YouTube’s “Carography with Joey Logano” series. He told a colleague that the Ford Mustang GT350 he brought into the show collection was actually the one Ford Performance gave him after winning the Xfinity Series Championship in 2020. Then Cendrick detailed his unique history with that specific model and its engine.

“What is unique to me about this car – yes, I got him to win a championship, which is great. An amazing memory that I know you can relate to,” Cendrick told his teammate. “When I started my relationship with Ford in 2015, I was racing at IMSA, and I was racing for the Factory Ford program.

“We started with 302 bosses and over the course of the year we developed the GT350 race car. When I was 16, being part of a development program on a car was great. And with that development project was this engine, 5.3. They called it Voodoo.” They called him “Voodoo” because he was a little bit evil.”

GTAustin Cendrick showed his love for the Ford Mustang.

When Cindric was involved in the development program, he helped solve some problems with the 5.3L engine. Fast forward to 2020, and he received the street-legal version of a race car that was in a much better place, technically speaking.

Interestingly, Cindric had a choice to make when he received this special gift from Ford Performance in 2020. He realized that one option was to keep the car locked up in a shop and just focus on cleaning it all the time.

Cindric’s other choice, and the one he made, was to “kick the heck out” of the Ford Mustang. Since then he has spent countless hours behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang GT350 while having a lot of fun creating some unique memories.

Cindric continues his quest for another championship

GTAustin Syndrick races at Texas Motor Speedway.

Cindric earned his Ford Mustang GT350 by winning the Xfinity Series Championship in 2020. Now he has a chance to pursue another championship and potentially earn an even bigger award than Ford Performance.

Penske Ford Mustang’s #2 driver is currently in qualifying, and is close to a place in the quarter-finals as the cut-off race at Charlotte Roval approaches. He’s technically short of the cut streak, but he’s sitting in a tie for the final transition spot with fellow Ford Performance driver Chase Briscoe.

Cendrick will enter the weekend with slightly better odds than his fellow driver. Briscoe sits at 20-1, Per BetMGM, which puts him in a tie with RFK Racing’s Chris Bucher. Cendric at 16-1. He is in a relationship with Christopher Bell, Ross Chastain, and teammate Ryan Blaney, who also appeared on “Carography with Joey Logano”.
