How to change app icons on your Samsung phone

If you have ever tried to get custom app icons on your phone, you must have noticed that doing so usually requires you to download Android launchers first as the original software does not support third-party app icon packs. This is the case for Samsung phones as well.

This is a problem because the launcher may not support all the features and tools that you are used to on your phone’s original operating system. Fortunately, there are ways you can get unique icons on your Samsung phone without having to download a launcher. Let’s see how.

What you need to know before installing icon packs

Before we see how to apply icon packs to make your Samsung phone look more beautiful, you should first know an important fact: it is highly unlikely that an icon pack will have a custom icon for each individual app on your device.

why? Because developers have to manually design the skins for each application. This means that popular apps are more likely to have icons available, but less popular apps may not. As a result of this, customizing your Samsung phone becomes a little more difficult.

There are two solutions to this. First, you can hide apps from the app drawer that didn’t get new skins. Secondly, you can download multiple icon packs and search their catalogs to see if they have covers for less popular apps on your phone. We’ll show you how to do both.

How to apply icon packs from Galaxy Store

Customizing app icons on Android requires downloading third-party launchers, but there are two ways you can apply icon packs on your Samsung phone without them.

The first method is easy but less effective while the second method is time consuming but yields better result. Let’s see first how to apply icon packs via Samsung Galaxy Store.

Follow these steps below:

  1. Press and hold an empty space on the Home screen and tap themes.
  2. go to the Icons And select the icon pack you want.
  3. Faucet Downloadthen press Progressing Once downloaded.
  4. go to the Menu > My Items > Icons To see all your icon packs.
  5. To go back to the stock icons, tap Default > Apply.

In our experience, icon packs from the Galaxy Store usually have icons that are only available for a very limited number of apps, so we don’t recommend them very often.

How to apply custom icons with Good Lock

In the second method to apply icon packs to your Samsung phone, you will need three things: the Good Lock app from Samsung, the Theme Park module inside the Good Lock app, and the icon pack(s) of your choice. As we said earlier, this method takes more time, but is more effective.

Download: good lock (Free in-app purchases available)

If you are downloading multiple icon packs, make sure they look the same to avoid your apps appearing inconsistent. were using Minimal White Light And the Whicons Icon packs for this guide.

Follow the following steps:

  1. Download your favorite icon pack(s) from Google Play Store.
  2. Download the Good Lock app and install the Theme Park module.
  3. In the amusement park, go to icon Menu and tap new creation new creation.
  4. Faucet Iconpack (gift box icon) and select an icon pack under it Third Party Icon Packs. Once selected, Theme Park will show you a preview of your apps with this icon pack app.
    • You can also change the look, color and size of your app icons from the same menu.
  5. Once you are happy with the result, click Installations button (arrow down), give it a name, then tap yes. Your new look is created; Click on it and choose Progressing.

How to change individual app icons on Samsung

If you’ve followed so far, most of your apps should now have a new icon. But as you’ve probably noticed, quite a few haven’t changed, especially games.

Now, you can either leave it as is and just enjoy the ones that have changed, or follow these steps to find icons for almost all the apps on your phone:

  1. Open Theme Park and go to icon existing. Click on the saved topic and select release.
  2. Tap on the three dots menu at the top and select change icons. You will see a list of all the applications that have changed and everything that has not.
  3. Select an app from the list you want to change. Then, from the menu that pops up, select a different icon pack than the one you chose earlier.
  4. In its icon catalog, click the search button and type in the name of the application you are looking for. Click on the most appropriate icon to apply it. Repeat this process for all other applications.
    • If the icon pack catalog does not contain the icon you want, search for a different icon. You can apply icons from different icon packs in one theme.
  5. Go back, then install and apply this new look the same way you did earlier.

Here’s a tip: when searching through the icons catalog, you may not always find the icons for the app you’re looking for by typing its name. So, try writing a different but related term instead.

For example, if you’re looking for a racing game icon, search for “car,” “speed,” “racing,” or something similar instead of the actual name of the game. The idea here is that even if you can’t find the perfect icon for your app, you’ll at least find something that looks relevant.

If you did everything right, the end result will look something like this:

How to hide apps from the app drawer

Despite your best efforts, it is very likely that some of your apps will remain unchanged. This is inevitable. In this case, the best thing that you can do is simply hide those apps from the app drawer so as not to interrupt the appearance of other apps that have got new skins.

To hide apps from the app drawer, press and hold an empty space on your home screen and tap Settings. Now press Hide apps And select all the apps you want to hide and tap he did to end.

Applying custom icons is tricky, but it’s worth it

One UI does not have native support for icon packs, but by using the Theme Park module in the Good Lock app, you can apply the same without downloading third-party Android launchers.

This way, you can continue to use your phone as usual, but now with a sick new look. Feel free to install more icon packs from the Play Store and see which one suits you best.
