Therese Maxi of the Philadelphia 76ers throws first court before a game between the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
The start of the NBA season is fast approaching and there is a tremendous amount of excitement surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers. However, there is stiff competition with which Philly Sports Club is enjoying the most fanfare at the moment. The Eagles are the only unbeaten team in the NFL, and the Phillies chose their team First postseason win in 11 years Friday. There were several members of the Sixes who took note of the impressive victory Phillies came from behind in the ninth game to take the win. James Harden was quick to acknowledge the win on Twitter.
Harden wasn’t the only Sixers to rhyme with Paul Reed either.
Sixers and Phillies connection
It’s great to see Sixers players showing their love for another Philadelphia team. This is not the first time that there has been contact between the two teams. Therese Maxi made waves earlier in the season by attending the Phillies game, throwing first floor, and even jump on broadcast. While Maxi toured nearly all of Philadelphia’s teams, his presence at Citizens Bank Park was especially felt.
After his appearance on the broadcast, Maxey received strong acclaim from Phillies announcer John Kruk – also a fan favorite.
Countdown to the Sixers season
For now, the Feliz will continue their post-season battle with the Cardinals. The Wild Card match will resume tonight (Saturday) with a third match at the table on Sunday if necessary.
In contrast, the start of the Sixers season continues to approach. The team completed the training camp and is halfway through the pre-season. They have two more pre-season games against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Charlotte Hornets before their October 18 opening night game against the Boston Celtics.
The Sixers will be looking to mirror the Phillies’ post-season success in their particular sport and have plenty of reason to be optimistic about why that might happen. It might not be as severe as the Phillies’ 11-year drought, but the Sixers will be looking hard for the second-round plateau. Philly has made the playoffs in each of the past five years, but hasn’t made it past the conference semifinals since 2000-01 season.
With the most complete squad assembled around Joel Embiid during his NBA career, Harden appears to be in better shape, and Maxey has continued to improve – there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic about this. The additions of PJ Tucker, De’Anthony Melton, Montrezl Harrell and Danuel House have already made an impact and are ready to be translated when the regular season begins.
The Phillies and Eagles raised the bar for success in athletics for Philadelphia, but this one the Sixers can still reach. Philly’s sporting status is strong given that she is in the hands of players such as Bryce Harper, Galen Hurts and Joel Embiid. It’s an exciting time in Philly esports and it will soon be the Sixers’ turn to carry the torch.
