Teams reached the halfway point in the Champions League group stage after each played three matches at their tables.
Some are stronger than others, and there’s still plenty to play for as we progress toward figuring out the ultimate winners and losers for each group.
However, there are teams that can qualify for the knockout stages of the competition if certain results occur during the evening of Tuesday and Wednesday.
Athletic took a look at who could qualify and exit the Champions League group stage this week.
Group A
Napoli have been the dominant team in their group and have won all three matches they have played this season.
The current Serie A leaders know that a victory over Ajax will make them qualify for the knockout stages of the competition, while a draw will determine their fate due to the superior goal difference.
Luciano Spalletti’s team is at the top of Group A with nine points, three points behind second-placed Liverpool. Ajax is third with three points, while Rangers, led by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, are last.
Liverpool could also take a big step towards the last 16 with a win over Ibrox, which could put them six points clear of third place if Ajax lose to Napoli.
If Rangers lose to Jurgen Klopp’s men, their hopes of reaching the knockout stages will be dashed. Only a win or a draw will give them a chance to advance with difficulty.
Who can pass: Napoli (win)
Who can get out: Rangers (loss)
