Anthony Robert Macmillan OBE, generally called Robbie Coltrane, was a Scottish actor, comedian, and creator who lived from 30 March 1950 until 14 October 2022.
As Rubeus Hagrid within the Harry Potter film lineup (2001-2011), and as Valentin Dmitrovich Zhukovsky within the James Bond action films GoldenEye (1995) and The World Is Not Enough, he achieved international fame (1999). He received the British Academy Scotland Award in honor of his “exceptional contribution” to film in 2011.
Coltrane was placed sixth in a survey of 2,000 people within the UK searching for the “most famous Scotsman”, trailing only the Loch Ness Monster, Robert Burns, Sean Connery, Robert the Bruce and William Wallace. In September 2006, Coltrane ranked No. 11 on ITV’s; s TV’s s 50 Greatest Stars.

Coltrane traveled from London to Glasgow on a group he hosted for ITV in August 2007 known as B-Road Britain, stopping in towns and villages along with the best way.
