New York Knicks’ Cam Reddish #0’s reaction during the game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Although the season opener resulted in a loss, the New York Knicks showed a valiant effort against the Memphis Grizzlies in a 115-12 defeat in overtime.

At one point, the Knicks were 19 points behind the Grizzlies in the third quarter at FedExForum, and all the momentum was leaning toward star player Ja Morant for an easy win in the first game of the regular season.

The Knicks resisted and were able to come back in the fourth quarter. While Julius Randle was the Knicks’ best overall player with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in the season opener, it was Cam Reddish who gave the Knicks an offensive blast in the fourth quarter and overtime.

The Knicks forward scored 22 points and had five rebounds, while also focusing on the defensive end by finishing the game with three possessions and one block.

What’s most impressive about Reddish’s performance is that he scored 14 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and in overtime and hit a three-point shot to force overtime. With his performance, Reddish certainly made a good impression on head coach Tom Thibodeau.

Ian Begley from SNY She mentioned Thibodeau liked Reddish He stated that his defense prompted him to go when speaking to the media during post-match comments.

“I think his defense got him going and then I think he got down to the open floor,” Tibodo said when evaluating Reddish’s touching outing in Memphis. “I just thought his shot selection was good, he attacked the edge really well, got some easy buckets. When you get some easy buckets, the game becomes easier. So that was a big plus. And his length, that’s important to us.”

This was the best match Reddish had played in the Knicks’ uniform, and he took the chance he had, especially with Quentin Grimes out with a foot pain.

If Reddish can follow his season-opening performance and stay consistent, Thibodeau will have to decide on a rotation.

In their four pre-season games, Reddish struggled to shoot the ball and seemed out of sync at times.

Part of his struggles may have been feeling the need to force things on the attack due to Quentin Grimes missing three of his four pre-season games and trying to prove himself against Thibodeau for consistent rotation minutes.

In the 15.8 minutes he played in pre-season, Reddish . averaged 4.3 points and shot 21.4 percent from the field.

His pre-season struggles didn’t stop him from continuing to be aggressive. Reddish credited his teammates for instilling confidence in him during the Grizzlies game, with the forward scoring nine of the 16 field goals he attempted and three three-pointers.

During his post-match commentsReddish gave credit to his teammates for helping him play with ease. “My teammates were cheering me on throughout the game, and Julius told me to be aggressive, and that goes a long way,” Reddish said.

When asked if he was concerned about the uncertainty about his role on the team, Reddish sounded confident when talking about his skills and what he can bring to the table.

“I wasn’t too worried about it,” Reddish said after putting on a great performance. “I feel like I was doing very well in practice. I know I can just come in and make an impact. Just try to do whatever I can to win, tonight I happened to score.”

Bronson had a flat streak of 15 points, six rebounds, and nine assists, but only scored seven of his 18 field goals.

Base grabbed Ja Morant three seconds before the end of the fourth quarter to force overtime and pass the ball to Reddish, who tied the game when the Knicks were three times behind.

Bronson was a Reddish supplement and wasn’t new to seeing Reddish products at a high level.

“He can do it, he did it to me last year when he had 20 against us (Mavericks),” Bronson said during his post-match comments. “We have a group of guys who are capable of that. Nothing out of the ordinary, it really helped us tonight.”
