Trevor Noah’s New Netflix Comedy Gets Release Date

Prior to Trevor Noah’s last appearance on The Daily Show, he released a new comedy special on Netflix.

The special, titled “I Wish You Were Do It,” will go live on November 22. It’s his third release on Netflix, following 2017 and 2018’s “Afraid of the Dark.” Noah’s Son of Patricia will share “hilarious discoveries about learning to speak German, modern communication, and his love of curry,” according to the record.

Wish I Were was filmed at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and directed by David Paul Mayer. Noah is an executive producer along with Bob Payne, Norm Aladgem, Derek Van Pelt, and Sanaz Yamin of Day Zero Productions.

Last month, Noah shocked his fans on The Daily Show by announcing that he was leaving Comedy Central after hosting it for seven years. His last appearance will be on December 8, after which the show will be on hold until January 17.

“I loved hosting this show. It was one of my biggest challenges. It was one of my greatest joys. I loved trying to figure out how to make people laugh even when the stories are especially bad on the worst days,” he said in the surprise announcement.

No replacement has been set, but Comedy Central is considering rotating “The Daily Show” hosts to fill it. Some supporting comedians, such as reporter Roy Wood Jr. and contributor Jordan Kleiber, are said to be in the mix. Other notable performers, such as Desi Lydic and Ronny Chieng, could jump in to host.
