Central Michigan vs. Buffalo odds, experts pick Wednesday’s MAC game

If the Buffalo Bulls are to earn a spot in the MAC Championship game and win the Eastern Division in the conference, they will have to recover from a heavy loss when they visit central Michigan this week. Buffalo is entering the game as a weak favorite as he appears to be recovering from his first conference loss of the season (Ohio) a week ago.

The Bulls won five consecutive games (including four consecutive MAC games) before that loss to Ohio. This defeat puts them in a position where they now have no room for error and pretty much need to win (and get some help) to earn a spot in the MAC title game. The good news for the Bulls is that the schedule has really cooled down over the last three weeks with Central Michigan, Kent State and Akron (combined record 7-20) remaining.

Leading the Buffalo quarterback is Cole Snyder, who moved from Rutgers and entered with 14 touchdowns on the season. The Bulls also use a two-headed monster to run with Ron Cook Jr. And Mike Washington both have already crossed the 500-yard mark for the season. They’re in a challenge on Wednesday against a Michigan central defense that features one of the best running defenses in the MAC, allowing only 127 yards per game on the ground.

In the meantime, Chippewas will try to play the spoiler. CMU is mostly out of the race at MAC West, but at 3-6, it can still win to reach pot eligibility.

Leading quarterback Leo Nichols returned a week ago in the victory over Northern Illinois after missing the previous two games. He ran for 92 yards in the win and would have a chance to take on the Buffalo defense that has struggled this season, allowing for more than 170 yards per game.

Expert choice vs spread

The Bulls opened as candidates, but that has changed since then with Chippew now gaining a slight advantage in the house. That seems to be a value with Buffalo being the better team. Yes, the Bulls lose to Ohio, but Ohio is 4-1 at MAC and one of the best teams in the conference. Central Michigan is not. I’m taking the bulls to the beat on the road. – Dan Santarumita, Team Editor, Sports Betting
