The disappearance of a 6-seater plane in the Philippines

Xinhua, citing reports, said the plane with tail number RPC 1174 took off at around 2:16 p.m. local time (0616 GMT) from Cauayan City Airport in Isabela, bound for the coastal town of Macunacon.

Local officials of the Philippine Civil Aviation Authority (CAAP) confirmed that six people were on board the missing plane, including the pilot.

Local broadcaster Bombo Radio quoted Marie Solene Sagursur, CAAP’s area manager in Tuguegarao province, as saying that authorities had launched an aerial search but had not found the wreckage.

The search and rescue operation will resume on Wednesday morning.
