Eric ten Hag on ‘unstoppable’ Marcus Rashford: ‘He can do crazy things, fantasy, adventure’

Erik ten Hag paid tribute to the ‘unstoppable’ Marcus Rashford as his run of goals continued in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest – and gave Manchester United creative license to continue doing ‘crazy things’ in the final third.

Rashford put United ahead just six minutes into the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at City Ground, slashing through defenders before firing home.

An impressive individual effort has seen him score 18 goals in all competitions this season. Only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has more clubs in the Premier League in 2022-23.

“In this mood and in this spirit, he (Rashford) is unstoppable,” Ten Hag said after the match.

“He can get creative in the final third, do something in the last third; some crazy, fantasy, adventurous stuff.”

After Sam Surrig’s equalizer was ruled out for Forest for offside, Wott Wieghurst scored his first goal for the club to double their advantage, and Bruno Fernandes added a late third to keep United on course to win their first title since 2017.

Ten Hag added, “I am happy with the performance, we dominated the match for more than 90 minutes.” “There was one moment that could have changed the game and we have to recognize that and improve.

Ten Hag also paid tribute to Weghorst, who arrived on a surprise loan deal earlier this month.

“I know what Wout is capable of,” said the Dutch manager about his compatriot.

“He has a good goal-scoring record but I think we created some really good chances. It was good work from Anthony and he was on the rebound. It was a real goal for the strikers and we achieved it.”
