After jailbreaking in Forspoken Chapter 3, your character equips a cloak that comes with benefits like a boost to basic health and defense. Later in the chapter, you’ll also unlock the crafting mechanic that you can use to upgrade and craft equipment using resources like Nuggets, Grainstone, Balm Flax, Diurnite, and many more.
What upgrades should I get first for the Cloak and Necklace in Forspoken?
On the crafting table, you are asked to upgrade your cloak. Since the resources are limited in the early game, you have to be careful while choosing the upgrade you really want for yourself. Here’s our recommendation for some good early upgrade options for your equipment.
Cloak’s best early upgrades

- The main feature of the hooded cloak
- Health: Requires 1 grain stone to boost the parameter by 1 level
- Equipment effects/status improvement (only three slots available)
- +5 percent health: Requires 1 linen conditioner
- Defense +5 percent: Requires 1 linen conditioner
- Critical hits can boost the attack: Requires 1 herb and 1 wild musk

Best early necklace upgrades

- The primary feature of the Orison pendant (Reward for defeating Deinosuchus Lesser)
- Health: Requires 1 grain stone to boost the parameter by 1 level
- Equipment effects/status improvements (only three slots available)
- An automatic healing effect is triggered when an enemy is defeated: Orison comes pre-equipped with this feature
- +5 percent health: Requires 1 linen conditioner
- Improved resistance to shrink defense: Requires 1 herb and 1 wild musk
