Fulham are in talks to sign FC Twente right-back Joshua Brenet, with their move to Arsenal’s Cedric Soares still stalled.
Brienne is a 28-year-old Dutch defender who has scored five goals in 22 matches this season. Capped twice by the Netherlands.
Marco Silva is keen to sign a right-back before the competition deadline for Kenny Tete.
Cedric has been Fulham’s number one target, however, and they are reluctant to pay his high salary, while also facing the hurdle of having to resolve an issue over the Premier League’s quota for loan players.
Fulham have already filled two loan spots in their squad for players signed from other Premier League sides, such as Dan James and Shane Duffy from Leeds and Brighton respectively, and they will need to either make one of those players sign permanently or send them back to their parent club, should they sign. Cedric on loan.
Silva said on Friday that he intends to keep both players beyond this month and, as it stands, expects no change in any of the loans.
