The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the most anticipated games of 2023 and the sequel to 2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Players can return to Hyrule again and experience a new story for Link. However, some players may wonder if they should play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild before playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Do I need to play The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild before The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

On the other hand, Zelda titles, and even sequels, can be played standalone because the story is often designed to be self-contained. This was true of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. This is likely true of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
