A gunman was arrested after threatening to open fire at a children’s hospital in Queens on Thursday afternoon, sources said. Thomas Saxton, 34, was arrested in his car outside Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Glen Oaks around 12:10 p.m., according to law enforcement sources. Sources said Saxton was in possession of two ghost rifles – two unregistered household weapons that lack serial numbers. GM’s new Mets should hit the ground running with a long to-do list
Another day came and went Friday without an announcement from the Mets that they had settled on the next person to run their baseball operations division. But once that person is finally hired, he or she will have to act quickly, with less than three weeks left until a potential shutdown across Major League Baseball, unless a new collective bargaining agreement is agreed before 11:59 p.m. ET on December 1 . Even without that looming deadline, and the player transaction freeze that will follow, there is a long list of…

With Jacob deGrom’s status unclear, and holes in the hosts roster to be filled, the Mets should be careful about going into it this winter. .

Billionaires’ row is not where you think it is. For years, a growing number of rich and famous names have been quietly trading Park Avenue co-ops and 57th Street skypads for wide spreads in the always-chic West Village. Last year, the pandemic spurred sales in the “historic hood”, as billionaires sought seclusion in self-contained homes. Now, the race for glittering downtown real estate has reached its climax with the massive expansion of compact homes. Who doesn’t have one? Tech billionaire Sean Parker does just that. He was one of the…

Carlsbad, CA — This week’s general manager meetings will begin perfectly for the Mets with a new front office chief in place, but more often for the best plans in place. Over four days in Southern California, he will lead the Mets delegation in discussions with the opposing team’s agents and executives about potential player acquisitions in this…

“First of all, the Mets have become a very attractive landing spot. I think that’s true across the board. I think people are interested in working with the Mets in-game and they might not have been before.” – Sandy Alderson, November 10, 2020 A year earlier this week, Steve Cohen and Alderson held a joint press conference to officially introduce Cohen as the new Mets owner. Rewatching it with current knowledge is a bit like watching “Saturday Night Live.” It’s 90 minutes long. It is full of parodies. You will…

If the Mets are on the fence about re-signing Michael Conforto, perhaps the tiebreaker should be worried about the possibility of him returning to chase them from within the NL East. Already, the Mets have to deal with Zack Wheeler a lot. The talented holder received a five-year contract worth $118 million from the Phillies after the 2019 season and blossomed into a Cy Young award contender. In eight starts against the Mets, he made a 2.63…

Read MoreMets focus on new GM after baseball chief search fails
ATLANTA — The Mets’ hunt for the head of baseball’s operations appears to have turned into a search for a general manager, with the team’s focus perhaps shifting more to rising CEOs than well-known names. It’s an extensive research that can’t be guaranteed to be completed by the time the general managers meetings take place in Carlsbad, California, on November 8, but owner Steve Cohen remains actively involved in the process, according to sources. Among the names on the Mets’ radar are Cardinals assistant general manager Randy Flores, Rays vice…
